One shining example of this is Tom Price, who has just completed a Sport & Coaching Higher Apprenticeship through South Devon College – and has become an integral part of our coaching team and community. 🎓⚽

🎓 From Apprentice to Role Model

Tom’s journey with Saints Southwest began as a young and enthusiastic apprentice with a clear passion for sport and education. Over the course of his apprenticeship, Tom has worked across schools, community programmes, and holiday camps, constantly demonstrating a commitment to high-quality coaching, personal development, and professional standards.

The Sporting Excellence Professional Apprenticeship programme, run in partnership with South Devon College, provided Tom with the opportunity to develop his skills in:

• Planning and delivering PE and sport sessions

• Understanding child development and learning styles

• Building positive relationships in educational and community settings

• Meeting safeguarding, health & safety, and inclusion standards

• Reflective practice and professional development

🚀 What’s Next for Tom?

With his apprenticeship now complete, Tom continues to work full-time with Saints Southwest, delivering high-quality PE and sport across primary schools, leading sessions in our community football programmes, and playing a key role in our school holiday camps.

He’s also committed to ongoing CPD and is working towards his FA & UEFA coaching qualifications, which will open up further opportunities for growth and leadership within the company.
