Last Friday saw local primary schools come together for the annual Bradfords Primary School Community Cup, delivered by Saints Southwest and firmly established as a highlight in the school sports calendar.
The Year 5 and 6 tournament brought together 16 schools from across the region for a full day of competitive, inclusive football. With group stages feeding into Cup and Plate competitions, the standard of play was excellent throughout, matched by positive attitudes, teamwork, and sportsmanship from every team involved.
After a closely contested series of matches, Sherwell Valley Primary School were crowned Cup winners, while Warberry CofE Academy lifted the Plate. However, beyond results, the real success of the day was seeing children represent their schools with pride, resilience, and enjoyment.

Why Events Like This Matter
At Saints Southwest, our work goes beyond delivering football. Events like the Bradfords Primary School Community Cup reflect exactly why we do what we do.
As Director Mark Titchard explains: “This tournament is a great example of our purpose at Saints Southwest. It’s about creating meaningful opportunities for children to play, compete, and enjoy sport in the right environment. Seeing schools come together, pupils giving everything for their teams, and staff supporting them throughout the day is what grassroots sport should look like.”
Programme Coordinator Kai Champion, who supported the event on the day, added:“The standard, attitude, and effort from every team was outstanding. Whether schools were competing in the Cup or Plate, the commitment and sportsmanship were first class. These events give children the chance to learn, develop confidence, and enjoy representing their school.”
Supported by Strong Partnerships
The tournament was proudly sponsored by Bradfords, whose support has helped enhance the overall experience for pupils and schools alike. Their backing continues to play a key role in allowing Saints Southwest to grow this event year on year.
We also extend our thanks to South Devon College, Jamie Richards, and the SDC students, who provided excellent support throughout the day.
Looking Ahead: More Opportunities to Come

Supporting Growth and Long-Term Impact
As Saints Southwest continues to expand its education, community, and football development programmes, we are also open to conversations with investors who share our vision. Our aim is to increase access to high-quality provision, create more opportunities for young people, and strengthen the long-term impact of grassroots sport across the Southwest.
If you are a school, partner, or investor interested in being part of this journey, we would welcome a conversation.
Thank you to all schools, staff, partners, and supporters who made the Bradfords Primary School Community Cup another successful and memorable event.
