At Saints Southwest, we are always proud to recognise and celebrate the incredible achievements of our team members, but today, we want to shine a special spotlight on Freya Gudge for her inspiring journey and meaningful accomplishments. Freya’s dedication to raising awareness for mental health is truly remarkable and her story exemplifies perseverance, strength, and compassion.
In April 2023, Freya, alongside her younger brother, embarked on a monumental journey: running 30 half-marathons in 30 days in memory of her father. This incredible feat was undertaken in support of CALM, a charity dedicated to preventing suicide and promoting positive mental health. Together, Freya and her brother raised an astounding £5,414.00 for the cause. This challenge was more than a physical test of endurance—it was an emotional tribute and a beacon of hope to many facing their own battles.
Fast forward to April 2024, and Freya’s relentless passion and commitment did not go unnoticed. She received an invitation to the Pride of Somerset Youth Awards 2024, which took place on May 16th at the McMillan Theatre. Nominated for the prestigious Championing Positive Mental Health award, Freya not only attended but also emerged as the proud winner. This honour serves as a testament to her tireless work in championing mental health awareness and supporting those in need.
But the recognition did not end there. On October 31st, Freya had the privilege of attending a special VIP event celebrating her award-winning efforts. In an unforgettable moment, she met The Princess Royal and had the opportunity to share her powerful story, reflecting on the toughest challenge of her life and the motivation behind it. This milestone encapsulates Freya’s dedication to making a difference, and it was truly a pleasure for her to represent a cause so close to her heart.
We are inspired by Freya's courage, determination, and compassion. She is not just a role model within our team, but an example of hope and strength for anyone striving to make a positive impact on mental health awareness.
