OUR MISSION STATEMENT

To offer a high quality, all-encompassing PE/School Sport provisions across the South West, providing multiple and sustainable opportunities in physical literacy.

  1. Develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities.

  2. Promote and increase participation in physical education and school sport.

  3. Children are physically active for sustained periods of time.

  4. Engage in competitive sports and activities.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

Promotion of extra-curricular activities to increase participation on offer within and out of school (develop local club links).

​

An offer of Breakfast Clubs, Lunchtime Clubs (including Sports/Play Leaders training) and After School Clubs on the days of delivery, along with School Holiday courses.

​

Saints Southwest staff are also able to deliver sport-specific units e.g. Rugby, Tennis, Gymnastics etc.

​

Saints Southwest also support many schools by deploying 'Play Workers' to support extra-curricular provisions schools already have in place.

CONTINUED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

​

Continued Professional Development support for teachers and teaching assistants. This is based on an initial consultation and an agreed action plan put in place.

​

Our staff will help support the delivery alongside the chosen member(s) of staff from your school, covering key areas for development such as;

​

  • Differentiation

  • Behaviour management

  • Working in small spaces

  • Working with limited equipment

  • Individual and group challenge setting

  • Assessments, review and reflection methods

  • Coaching and teaching methods

  • Unit/sport-specific teaching support to develop subject knowledge

INTERVENTION WORK

Saints Southwest understand that schools have many challenges, spinning many plates to deliver a holistic curriculum.

​

Following consultation with a school staff member, Saints Southwest PE Specialists will design and provide a clear Intervention strategy based on the objectives set. Here are some ideas around our Intervention work;

  • Cross-curricular learning through Physical Literacy​

TOURNAMENTS & EVENTS

Saints Southwest staff organise many school festivals and tournaments throughout the academic year which brings children and schools together to play fixtures in a safe, structured and educational environment.

​

Coaches can organise various sporting events from sports festivals/tournaments, sports days and inter/intra school competitions.

​

As well as hosting and organising sporting tournaments and festivals, Saints Southwest can host and organise intra school leagues either at central venues or via a tailored fixture programme with webbased fixtures and results system.

PERSONAL, SOCIAL &
HEALTH EDUCATION (PSHE)

Although the DfE doesn’t publish its own PSHE curriculum, it provides funding to the PSHE Association, enabling it to advise schools on how to develop their own PSHE teaching programme.

​

Saints Southwest have multiple PSHE programmes which schools can tailor to meet the needs of their pupils.

​

There are three core themes of primary school PSHE:
1. Health and Wellbeing
2. Relationships
3. Living in the Wider World: economic wellbeing and being a responsible citizen

HEALTHY GOALS PROGRAMME (PSHE)

AIMS & OBJECTIVES


Qualified Saints Southwest staff to work with one key stage two class over a 6 or 12-week block to deliver a fun and interactive ‘Healthy Goals Programme’ in and out of the classroom.

​

THE'GOALS'

​

  1. Understanding of leading a healthy lifestyle.

  2. Increase understanding of the importance of being active every day​

  3. Promoting healthy eating habits.

  4. Increase understanding of mindfulness and healthy well-being.

SPORTS LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME

A programme where young people take ownership and demonstrate leadership through sport.

​

THE LEGACY

 

  1. A cohort of young people with a recognised sports leaders award who are able to lead and assist in the delivery of sport and physical activity sessions.

  2. A ready-made, easy to deliver leadership framework which enables students to deliver structured and inclusive sport and physical activity sessions.

  3. An increase in students' social and academic confidence.

  4. More employable students due to increased skills and improved CVs.

  5. Opportunities for peer-to-peer learning and development.

POST 16

Saints Southwest have a proven Football & Coaching Academy programme designed to give Post 16 students a firm stepping stone towards a career in the sports, teaching and coaching industry.

​

This 2-year programme gives students a good academic understanding as well as offering a hands on experience in being coached and mentored by UEFA qualified coaches.

​

All students will gain their first FA Coaching award which will then allow students to support Saints Southwest with their community programmes. On an average timetable, students will have 18 hours of lessons, receive 8 hours coaching/training/coaching clinics, play in a U19 college league alongside revision and home study.

​

Following a successful 2 year programme, students will have access to many exits routes to either further their education at university, apply for a 1 year apprenticeship/internship with Saints Southwest as well having a good opportunity to apply for any job vacancies which may be available within the industry.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION (PE)

Saints Southwest staff are highly qualified and trained to meet the expectations of delivering high-quality Physical Education lessons.

​

Our team of PE specialists are skilled in behaviour management and differentiation, helping them create tailored lessons for all children to develop and enjoy.

​

Working alongside our own PE curriculum map or using the schools own, all PE units are taught by our team; Invasion Games, Striking & Fielding, Net & Wall, Athletics, Multi-Skills & Fundamental Movements, OAA, Gymnastics and Dance.

​

Session plans and schemes of work are uniquely designed and written for each year group and unit within the PE curriculum. Assessment tools are also provided to identify levels and progress of all pupils.

​

All partner schools will have full access to these resources.
